JVC HD/miniDV Clam Shell

Beststuff.com has the skinny on a much needed add-on to anyone's HD prodution suite.

Quote:
Suitable for use in the field, in the studio or at home, the JVC CU-VH1 features a 3.5-inch LCD monitor, an iLink interface for non-linear editing and dubbing, component outputs for multi-format playback, and an SD card slot for capturing stills from tape and transferring them to PC through a USB connection. It records and plays back Mini DV cassettes, and for high definition recording and playback adheres to the HDV format, a standard agreed upon by major consumer electronics manufacturers.
Anyone know how old this item is? I've never seen it before and it looks like it should replace any monitors or Sony clamshells you may be lugging around on location. Alas, it has flaws...it won't display 24p. GET WITH THE PROGRAM JVC!!! Seriously, us Canon XL2 users have been 24p-ing it for years. And how about talking to Panasonic about those pretty cool P2 cards....maybe you guys can brain storm on how to get all our toys to play nice together.

I so feel like a neglected Mac user right now :*(
