No, you need either HDMI or analog outputs. They want the digital high definition audio protected by HDCP. They don't care as much about the analog audio output.

There is no way for MS to add HDMI capability to the XBox 360 unless they digitize the analog RGB video out of the VGA pins. The only benefit to doing this would be less interference on the wire going to the TV. Doesn't seem like a big enough benefit to me.
