Canon's HV10 Hits the States!

David Pogue at NYTIMES.COM compares the new Canon HV10 and Sony's anticipated HC3.

Quote:
Both are HDV camcorders, which means that they record onto standard, easy-to-find, inexpensive MiniDV cassettes. The eyepiece viewfinder is immobile and nonextendable on both. And both cameras are so compact, the other parents at the baseball game will have absolutely no clue that you’re filming in high definition.
Here's his opinion.

A camcorder near $1000 seems a bit much. Do you really need little Timmy wading naked in his SpongeBob pool in HD? But, the good news is 3 years from now, this will probably be the norm.
