anyone who thinks that the AVERAGE consumer is going to pick up a PS3, turn it on, and not be confused by everything at the "dashboard" or whatever name they gave it, is smoking crack...there are many many different settings that you can change which the AVERAGE consumer knows nothing about...do you think the average consumer knows what PCM audio is? i think not...while most of us might know all about these things most people dont...kudos to sony for making a user friendly interface
and then theres the online component...holy cow...in one word, AWFUL...microsoft has made a complete mockery of sony in this area...xbox live is everything a unified online service needs to be...and yes i own (sadly) a PS3...wish i could take it back...the only saviour is the BD playback capability. other than that one thing i must say, Sony is in deep shi*!
the fact i can walk into any wal mart in my area here in San Diego and find a PS3 more often than not should send a definitive message to everyone who thinks sony will still be on top this gen...at a whopping $600 plus $30 for an HDMI cable, then another $50 for a controller, $60 for a game, then add a BD at say $30, you come to a grand total of $770...thats not counting a headset for online if you choose to go that route...granted you can say the XBOX 360 and the add on will come to that same price but the HD DVD drive is an add on...its not like people have to buy it...if they choose not to they can come back later and get it if they choose...people dont like being forced to buy something they dont want, or for the average consumer dont know anything about.
so long sony, nice knowing you
