Just wondering if I will be able to get 1080P using the VGA cable on my xbox.
I have the HDDVD Drive and A 1080P Samsung 71" DLP TV , or do I have to get the Xbox ELite? I have read that it will
produce 1080P but still worried.

A. In general VGA and component are about the same in terms of picture quality. However, if you have an HDTV that only accepts a 1080i input signal, only the component connection will work for you. The 360 will not output a true 720p or 1080i HD signal over VGA, only computer resolutions of 640×480, 848×480, 1024×768, 1280×720, 1280×768, 1280×1024, 1360×768 and 1920×1080 (progressive). In most other cases the VGA connection provides more options, especially when viewing movies on DVD or HD-DVD.

Xbox 360 will do 1080p through its VGA adapter. « Mental Interface

The more and more reading I do it seems that you have to check the specifications of your TV PC Input to see if it supports that reslution. for example in the link above stating that it does.. The samsung LCD flat panel TV supports 1080p via PC (rgb/vga) connection.

Bottom line is HDMI %100 is capable of giving you1080p unless your TV is not 1080p and only 720pbut if you choose to use a
PC input (VGA/RGB) connection you haveto make sure that the TV is 1080p and also that through the PC input (VGA/RGB) is capable as well.
