If the HDTV can support 1920 x 1080 via "VGA", then you are ok.. If not, you will need the ELITE. First try the Microsoft branded VGA cable. If all is good, you can spring the extra cash for a good 3rd party cable..

NOTE: A handful of HDTV's can support 1080p via component. Sony and Westinghouse to name a few.
