I have a Toshiba XA1 and my friend has an A1. Neither of has any problems with the startup times. We both have the newest firmware and I think that fixed it. It still takes a bit to "boot up" but it is no different than my upconverting SD DVD player with HDMI. I think it is HDMI handshake stuff.
