We are very excited that the first American HiDef Movie "Nicolas", which was shot by Steven Douglas Smith and directed by Pete Shaner is set to screen January 21st in Park City. This movie and its crew truly represent the pioneers of HiDef who had to go out there and test it all for the first time, literally "feeling there way into the 21st century". The Movie goes something like this...

Laura Miller (Gretchen Egolf) has trouble with commitment. She's never been able to go much past six months in any romantic relationship, and she doesn't know why. Take her current relationship with Matt (Jason Connery). He's intelligent, attentive, and cares for Laura very deeply. But they've been together for six months now, and Laura worries that Matt may be getting too serious. And she's further confused by the dreams she's been having--very sensual, passionate dreams about a dark, mysterious artist (Marcus Graham) which always seem to take place in the past. On a whim, Laura and her friend Jocelyn (Dawnn Lewis) visit a psychic to ask about her future with Matt. The psychic (Max Gail) tells her that in addition to Matt, there is another man in her life who loves her very deeply. Laura is confused. There are no other men in her life.

Laura is a graphic artist at an ad agency, and has recently been assigned to design an ad campaign for a new perfume. But try as she might, Laura can't concentrate. She continues to dream about the mysterious artist. One morning, upon awakening, Laura is struck with inspiration for the ad campaign. Her dream-inspired concept is a hit with the client, and Laura is put in charge of the campaign.

As Laura works on the project, the dreams continue. Only now there is a child in them, and Laura is haunted by recurring images of a baby crying in a burning house. And to make matters worse, Laura discovers she's pregnant. When Matt finds out, he's pleased and wants to plan their future, but Laura tells him she isn't ready.

Instead, Laura immerses herself in her work. But she keeps dreaming, and in the dreams, she and the artist, whose name is Nicolas, are now married and have a child. Laura begins to feel if she and Matt have their baby, something terrible will happen.

Things rapidly go from bad to worse. Nicolas begins to appear at will, regardless of whether Laura is awake or asleep. He demands ever more of her time and attention, isolating her from friends and co-workers. Finally, Laura returns again to the psychic. He tells her that Nicolas is in fact the spirit of a lover from a past life, and that their souls are linked because of "unfinished business."

This "unfinished business," it turns out, is the reason Laura fears commitment and questions her suitability as a mother. Nicolas continues to grow in strength, threatening anyone and anything that comes between him and Laura. It finally becomes clear that the only way Laura can regain control of her life and protect her unborn child is to confront Nicolas and the terrible secret he harbors.
