Before you SHOOT - read this...
From the mouths of the first few who have tread the HiDef Camera's tempermental waters - here are a few things to watch for.
SOUND
The DAT Decks we are all used to recording sound on is nothing like the 18 BIT capabilities of the HiDef Cameras. Be sure to tap your sound directly into the camera as well as other traditional sources.
CHANGING BATTERIES
When you change batteries, or lose power to the camera, your timecode may revert to 22:00 hrs. ( we think this problem has been resolved, however, it couldn't hurt to watch for this phenomenon)
SHOOT TO KILL
Just because your acquisition system is rolling "ones and zeros" don't forget: if you don't put in the time, you won't make the dime. It takes just as much effort and preparation to make a HiDef Movie as it does to shoot on traditional film.
Light it! Light it! Light it! Control every aspect of the picture. If you shoot like crap - it'll look like crap. But, and here's the big but, if you shoot it well... call yourself an artist, Hidef or otherwise.
REACH OUT!
Also remember you're not alone. There are a myriad of talented professionals on this HiDef journey and they are here to help!
