It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the long run. Will Sony finally cave to pressure and support FF in time for GT5 (keep in mind, it's current release date is "Sometime 2008" and Gran Turismo is never on time)? Personally, I still don't care since a vast majority of developers still only do the easy answers for FF and I do see any reason to complain and carry on for the 1 in 100 game that manages to go beyond "tie the vibration code directly to damage taken."
I've disabled vibration in most of my games (I'll give them a test run but for the most part, it's annoying more than entertaining) and I don't see too many games on the horizon who look like they want to innovate rumble, aside from Hideo Kojima, but that guy is nothing but hat tricks. Cool little gimmicks that equate to nothing in the whole.

Unfortunately you are a minority when it comes to not caring about vibration. Over 50% of all current and future PS3 users care. During the E3 press conference, the reaction of ALL Playstation fans said it all. And for the record, vibration is used for more than explosions in games. You exaggerate just a little

. Lack of FF in GT5 will be huge for the hardcore. Previous games had support and now none? Playing a simulator without one of the most important pieces is not a good thing at all and with the news coming out so far ahead of the games release, it will do even more damage. If they were SMART, they would have kept quiet on this for as long as possible (especially since PS3's are already collecting dust in stores). Forza 1 is already just as good as GT if not better (thanks to real damage modeling - something GT has never had) and Forza 2 will ship before GT5 does, giving MS plenty of time to convert the masses.
Time will tell (as usual)...
