Thumbs down Hi Def War might be over soon...

NME ( New Medium Enterprises ) - a British technology company reported that they have developed a multi-layer DVD that can hold HD DVD, Blu-ray and DVD formats on one disc. So how long will it take for this disc to be perfected? Apparently prototypes will be available in early 2007. The full article is here <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/ptech/09/26/dvd.formats.reut/index.html"> Cheers

There is NO WAY the big boys w/ all of the money they have will let a small(tiny) company like that even remotely have a chance and have success...

I doubt it. That would be a 3rd new format people would have to worry about.

HD-DVD all the way dude. Sick of Sony's hardware prpblems. SUpposedly they are a hardware comapny, unlike MS which is a software company. Well, personally, Sony's hardware blows.

Could be possible to solve the debate between blu-ray and HD.
Possible. But not likely.
HD DVD all the way, only because it's backed by Microsoft and almost everybody but Sony.

Aren't Bluray and HDDVD both OWNED by someone? Can another company make money off the formats without licensing them?

They may indeed both get on board. Think about it they wouldn't want their competition getting the edge of them with a secret deal with these guys on the sneak. So MS and Sony may both indeed trying to get a peice of the pie.
