Is buying a Hi Def receiver worth it?

I have a 50" Toshiba projection TV. The owners manual says, "The colorstream HD jacks can be used with Progressive (480p, 720p) and Interlace (480i,1080i) scan systems" I don't know what any of that means. But...

I am considering buying a Tivo receiver with Hi Def. My question is: With this TV will I get the complete Hi Def picture? Or do I need to get a Plasma? Basically will I see the sweat coming off Brett Favres face?

Yes. This TV will do the job nicely for you. As a warning, once you start using an HD TIVO, you will never be able to go back to not having one. They are quite addictive!

Good luck!

Yes, it is worth it as a Hi-Def receiver has HDMI video and audio support.. Via HDMI you can run TrueHD audio... Dolby's HD Solution | Dolby True HD

Late..

I cannot recommend highly enough, *especially* for sports programming, getting your hands on a high-definition source as quickly as possible. We have the Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR through Comcast -- no way I can ever imagine going back to SD now that I've watched Monday Night Football in high definition!!!

It's a must-do if you have an HDTV.

yah having a HD set with no HD programming is like having a Ferarri but no hot chick next to ya - why bother? Once you see sports in HD you will be in for life!
