Wait a tick! Are we being manipulated by the man...AGAIN!!??
Check out what ForeignDispatches.com has to say about HD:
Quote:
My own impression is that while the image clarity is indeed breathtaking, even at 1280x720, HDTV does not represent enough of an advance on the 720x480 pixel resolution of standard DVD to be worth paying much of a premium for, and the primary motivator for this new format isn't a desire to satisfy consumer demands but:- The quest by movie-makers for an opportunity to sell all of their catologues all over again.
- The desire to foist new copy-protection measures on the public, what with the CSS scheme employed by DVD having been broken years ago.
- A wish to combat online piracy by making file sizes so large as to be impracticable for downloading purposes, even over broadband connections.
Personally, I have absolutely no intention of buying into the HD format until one of HD-DVD and Blu-Ray is a clear winner and the price premium for the new players required has all but vanished - and maybe not even then; DVD is good enough for me as is. Still, don't take my word for it; take a look at some of the samples and decide for yourself.

If the 360 can affordably attach the hidef drives, I might think about it. But even then, unless my home set up is fully-loaded, there is no point anyway.
Seriously people, one thing I hate is the man. I'm not going to pay an extra $10 for a candy-coated menu. If the man is going to stick it to me, he'd better dance for me...real pretty like.
