360 owner needs help with 1080p...

I am about to make the HD plunge and am very confused. What I am looking for is a TV that will do 1080p over component since my 360 doesn't have HDMI outputs on it. I would prefer a model that Costco carries, but will get something else if the reasons are right. I want a TV that is 50+ inches, with excellent picture quality and so forth.

Thanks
Mosh~~

I believe the Sony XBR series is one of the few to support 1080p over component. I believe some issues still exist. Let me check this out and get back to you.

Specs say it doesn't accept a 1080p signal through component.

OP, only a handful of sets accept 1080p over component. You'll be better off looking for a 1080p set that can accept 1080p over VGA and picking up the VGA cables for the 360. The Westy linked above does accept a 1080p signal over VGA.

Thanks for the reply.

Will I lose picture quality that way? If not than thats what I will wind up doing.
Thanks

You could just purchase the VGA cable and do 1080p. this would increase the selection of tv's you have to choose from.

Do I lose picture quality by doing this, is it a better solution than letting the Sony TV do the upconverting for me?

Mosh

PS,
Hows it going Jokar?

If the TV already accepts the 1080p via VGA. It is better to send it that way than having your TV do the de-interlacing. Although the scalers on the XBRs are really good
