Arrow Are electronics taking over?

I was recently sitting in class, when I found myself being humiliated by my teacher. He was screaming at me for answering a text message in class. By the way, this was a lecture class. Anyhow, he was getting on the topic of how kids these days are letting electronics rule their life, and getting rid of the world that is right in front of them. Instead now, kids aren't making new friends because their friends are always with them. He then had the nerve to tell me that I was never going to meet any girls, because my phone is my girlfriend.

I let Mr. Nathaniel huff, steam and vent towards me until he finally gave up. I took it like a man and didn't respond, partly for the fact of pride, but more along the lines of keeping a good GPA.

However, do you think my teacher, Mr. Nathaniel, is right, that this electronic age is becoming an epidemic and we are going to be controlled by our phones one day. Please, let me know, because I will throw my Razor Phone away this moment. I definitely don't want to miss out the chicas.
Well, that is it for now, please help me out.

And thanks again,
Slave Labor

Get a Windows Mobile 5 PDA Phone such as the Cingular 8125 or the 8525 (I have the 8125). When you are responding to text messages you can simply tell your teacher that you are taking notes using Mobile Microsoft Word or Wordpad.

BTW: Sprint and Verizon have Windows Mobile 5 PDA's too.. Dump the pretentious razor and get a real phone.

I'm all about my Blackberry Pearl, it works for me. It's small convienient, I love it. Although, I do think kids are taking laptops to class now right? It's been a few years, so I'm not quite sure.

In regards to your Prof. saying those things. I think he's partly right. I think electronics will have an impact on social structures. They take away the intimacy of interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships. Communication is key in a lot of social groupings. While yes it's easy to text, email, game, or even video chat with people. They take away the very fabric of communicating on a personal level.

At the same time, it is quick fast and easy. Perhaps it's a sign of things to come, no one will talk or meet in person. It will be all done virtually. Hell, the released a USB shot glass in Russia to drink with your friends abroad...I can't imagine what else is coming down the pipe...a USB blow-up doll?
