Which format to chose as my first?

I am thinking about getting a HIDef DVD player, but unsure about which format to chose. There are titles in both I would like to have. Lately I have been leaning towards the LF combo player. I have read they should be coming with the new model in mid October. Can anyone give some advice to a novice?
