Ready for BD/HD DVD playback on your PC?

Here is a free software tool to check if your PC is compatible or ready for blue-ray DVDs.
www.cyberlink.com/bd-hddvd_advisor.

Now, If they would only release players for the PC, life would be good ...Toshiba just showed off some players recently... Cannot wait... For the meantime, I love my HD-A1 ..

Late..

Blu-Ray

I've heard that the PS3 had SERIOUS over heating issues at a recent expo.....makes me a bit hesitant to buy a Blu-Ray player....between the laptop batteries and the potential PS3 failure, Sony has serious issues.

This whole BR/HD-DVD battle will definitely have to settle the dust before I would make a decision. I do plan on eventually getting a PS3, but that's for gaming, not movie viewing (It's a bonus to to be to play BR movies, but after watching the BetaMax/VHS battle, I'm not going to buy too many movies to have them just be obsolete)

Many pieces of hardware will have overheating issues when shoved into cramped, unventilated plexiglass display units. Sony DOES have a history of making hardware that runs too hot, but I would wait for the PS3 verdict until it is released. I would still prefer a stand alone player anyway.

Sounds like it won't be long until the XBox 360 HD DVD drive will be up and going on PC. I assume if cyberlink can create drivers and a player (for a fee) that someone will release a freeware player sometime soon.

I saw an ad in the Circuit City flier for a computer with HD-DVD built in. It was like $1,500.
