Anyone know of a good Tivo type device (preferably one without subscription fee's) that will record HDTV? Preferably one that will allow me to watch and pause live video while recording another channel in HD.

This is probably an answer to your other post as well but I would take a look at Direct TV. From what i hear there quality is good (depending on the area) and they have a ton of HD channels to choose from. In addition they also offer an HDTV TiVO type device to record on that is pretty good. I don't know too much about Dish other than they have had some major issues in the past with signal quality so i am leaning more towards DirectTV.

The Tivo HD box is 800.00 bones.. Way too much.. The Comcast HD DVR with dual tuners is 9.95 a month. I do not believe in owning these things anymore as you will always need cable to use one.. Minus as well rent from your cable company unless you have big bucks to fork out up front. You have cable or satellite?
