Hi group!
Well i picked up this jewel at Target for the upcoming Black Friday sale. Buy high now return weekend for cash return at sale price. Saving about $100.00. Retail 279,sale 169. Ok, so i hook it up via DVI-I and it plays all my games except BF2142... there is some help as to adding a few fields to the BF shortcut but this doesn't help. There is something called FIXER which also doesn't work. So even though Westing claims no drivers are needed for these models i see them all out on the net. None for westing... What do you all think?? Some of my friends are using Samsung 22" and they are not having problems. Sure the Wesitng may be considered "cheap" by some but seeing how it's doing fine with Hellgate London, Crysis,Stalker,Half-Life2 IT MUST BE THE GAME or something else.... sorry for the rant.

What is the exact problem? Aspect ratio is wrong? Will not run certain resolutions? Overscan issue (image does not fit screen well)?

The problem is it won't play BF2142 but will play everything else.
I've tried the following:

Set up dual monitor config using old monitor to change BF2142 settings to max then go back to the LCD but no joy there.

Used some adds to the shortcut; added +menu 1 +widescreen szx 1650 szy 1050
No joy.

Used a software program called FIXER which looked promising but no joy.

So now i'm here at this knowledge pool. I have friends who have the 22" Samsung and it works no problem. I do not know of anyone playing BF2142 with a Westinghouse LCD.

You launch the game and the screen goes "black"? You have tried all common resolutions? 1024 x 768, 1280 x 800, 1280 x 720? I assume your video drivers are the latest? I have seen this before but not in a while. The fixes you tired should have worked on some level.. Give me a little time and let me see what I can find out..

The game sequence begins; the stomping manned walker shooting the big guns...screen goes black as it should,the desktop appears for a second in 800x600,as it should. Then DESKTOP.
Argh! I have not tried any other res's yet. I was jacking with dual monitors last night at default res. The P201 Trinitron is set at 1024x768. The LCD is set at 1900xsomething...

I will break down the dual setup tonight; the original LCD standalone res was 1680x1050(max). I will try several other res's.

Dual monitors was enabled when attempting to run game? Or you tried this later? Some games will incorrectly set the default monitor to the wrong display... Run as single display and see if that works. If the P201 is set as display 1 and the LCD at display, this would cause issue when the games resolution is set (not desktop). Also what video card do you have?

7900 GTX. Dual monitors was after. I removed the 201 at the begining. Only the LCD was hooked up originally.

Ok, looks like issues exist with this LCD especially if you were using CRT before. Uninstall the game completely. After the install, manually delete the BF2142 directory and also delete BF2142 files in "my documents" (except your save game files). You are looking for video.con specifically, make sure this file is deleted. Then uninstall your video drivers and "control panel". Reboot your system, then reinstall game and video drivers. Hopefully this will help. I believe the game is trying to load your old monitor config as BF only inits with either 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 until you actually start a game.

BF2142 doesn't support natively support widescreen resolutions. You need to modify your shortcut to include the szx and szy parameters. I have the same monitor and use the following in my shortcut:

"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

Ok, so I have this monitor too from Target black friday. Trying to play 2142 for the first time tonite with this monitor and I get the 2142 splash screen, screen goes black, then desktop. I tried the szx and szy setting recommended but no change...

Any other thoughts? I was using a Samsung 20" LCD before w/ absolutely no problems.
