Westinghouse 19w6 - source issue
So I get my first LCD TV from UPS yesterday, right? I'm 18. I know enough about electronics to get 'em started up and ready to go. Not real good at the trouble-shooting thing.
Here's the problem: I hooked up the TV to the power outlet, and to the cable wire (which does work; I was previously using it on a 19" Apex CRT TV). I turn it on, and what pops up? The name of the source in the upper-right corner, and a warning box in the middle that says, "no signal input". WHAT?! The source it was on by default was DVI. So I hit the source button, and it switches to D-Sub. Hit it again and it switches back to DVI. WHAT?! Those are the ONLY two sources I can get out of the damned thing. Is there anything fixable about this? Or do I need to send it back? |

Well, I tried my PS2. Cause I got this TV for the PS3 or 360 I'll be getting. So I plugged in the Video and R/L Audio cables from the PS2 and plugged it into the wall. But still nothing. Also, it turns off about 5 seconds after it displays that "no input signal" warning. Which doesn't give me enough time to go through the menu. I tried calling technical support, but I gave up after being on hold for half an hour... twice. |

And I doubt it's user error, as pushing the source button only switches between DVI and D-Sub... |

It included a remote right? Using the source button sometimes only switches between active inputs or manufacturer modes. Get really detailed with the user manual and spend about a half hour getting to know your remote. The TV turning off sounds like a pretection setting to make sure it doesnt burn out.....
I will keep digging to find out how to get those inputs going. |

So ya, I dunno. I read the manual. All it says about the remote is the buttons and their functions. For Source, it says: Push to select input source. |

Try this........first turn to page 19 on this user guide. Instead of hitting the source button go into the OSD Menu by hitting the Menu button on your remote. You need to get to the Video OSD Menu within the TV menu system. I think you are stuck on the PC OSD(On Screen Display) Menu when you hit the source because most of these small TVs were designed as monitors from computer sources. Once you find the Video OSD you can select the inputs you need and after that I am reasonably sure the source button will then allow you to switch between the inputs. Let us know if you still have issues. |

I can't get that far into the menu... When I get into the menu, I'm only given a second or two before that "no signal input" comes up and interrupts. Then it shuts off. =/ edit: And, when I do access the menu for those split seconds, I notice that there is a TV sub-menu, so it's not on Video OSD, it's on TV OSD... I have an idea then......do you have a DVI input you could use so the TV doesnt shut off?
If not you can take it back to the place of purchase (since its easy to carry) and see if they have something with a DVI input or an HDMI to DVI. Maybe if it finds a source you will be able to get to the menu. If not I think you may have to wait a while to talk to their tech support cause it could be bad news.....but its not a big deal if you just bought it, I am sure they will swap it out. Hit us back if the DVI input idea doesnt work cause right now I am stumped. |
