Sharp Aquos 37D90U Help...

Currently I have the Sharp Aquos (1080p) 37D90U and I have the XBOX 360 w/ the HD DVD add-on. My TV has HDMI, DVI, and component inputs. Currently I have my 360 connected using component cables, and I am getting 1080p signal when I am in the XBOX 360 dashboard or when I am playing any games. My issue is that when I go to play an HD DVD, my tv kicks down to 1080i and I believe it is because of the HDCP possibly. Can anyone think of any new cable configurations or any other solutions so I will have 1080p for all games and HD DVD's? ???

PS: I have tried the microsoft VGA cables and then connected a VGA >DVI converter and connected it that way, and the highest res my tv would allow with that setup was 1320X768..

The only bad thing right now with the Xbox HD-DVD player is that it will not output 1080p because it lacks an HDMI output. The limitation right now is the component cable but from what I hear that is going to change soon. I go back and forth with this all the time thinking that you may not notice the difference between 1080i and 1080p but then some movies show otherwise. I will try and gather some information on the new HDMI cable from MS for their 360 but until then maybe someone else can give you a headsup with the latest.

Until then just be patient because 1080p is really new and some products will take some time to catch up with cables, etc.

Thanks alot,... I'm not sure if you've heard of this configuration or not, but some 360/HD DVD add on owners that use the MS VGA cables and also have a VGA input on their TV's say that they do get 1080p across the board, HD DVD and all, and it also upconverts their SD DVD's. That was my intention when I tried the VGA > DVI adapter but for some reason it did not work for me.

Can't call them a liar but I highly doubt they used a MS VGA cable to acheive 1080p. I am not the end all be all expert and someone here might be able to give another opinion but its not likely. Most early 1080p HD sets upconverted 720p, 1080i etc. signal up to 1080p and this is what those other examples may be sighting...An upconversion but not true 1080p. Is there a reference site for the examples you noted so we can check them out?

If there is a solution all of us 360 owners would like to know because we are all anxiously waiting for this cable now that the HD-DVD drive is out. Right now software seems to be their main focus with the video marketplace. Hopefully a call to action on the 100GB hard drive (100GB to support marketplace downloads) and HDMI cable for the HD-DVD drive will come soon. If it does I am sure you will hear it on HiDef right when it happens.
