Battlestations: Midway (preliminary impressions)
I'm not ready to give an outright review about this game yet. I have spent some time with it, and this is basically my initial opinion on it.
It's difficult. I haven't played a RTS in quite sometime so perhaps that could be my issue, the learning curve is steep. It seems though once you get the hang of it, it will play like a dream.
Graphics, well, they're decent. I wasn't looking for Gears of War or Rainbow Six: Vegas. I was looking for a RTS that has decent enough sprites. They're not Alyssa Milano, but they're good enough, I'll say...Kirstin Dunst graphics.
Noises, boom, rat-ta-tat-tat, buzzzzz, whirrrrr, they're all in there. Voices are decent. Much better than oh I don't know any of the Resident Evil series.
The game, well, I have to say most everyone is correct when they say, the training puts you to sleep. I did fall asleep. I may have missed some important commands, I'm sure I'll figure them out eventually. I have been through a few levels, and it is enjoyable. Varied, and they seem very challenging. I won't be finishing this in 12 hours. Thank goodness.
Multiplayer, just my impressions from the demo. I loved it, but after going through the training I know there is much more to it than I first though. Basically, I'm too much of a wuss to go online yet. I need some practice.
I'll have a full review in a few days. So far I would have to say it's a decent enough game. I certainly will get my money's worth out of it.
