Zachery Quinto to play Spock in JJ Abrams Star Trek!

The search for Spock is over and I am not exactly pleased as Zachery Quinto has been cast as Spock in JJ Abrams reboot of Star Trek. I was really hoping for an unknown or at least a well established actor like Adrian Brody. Since I am not a fan of Heroes I find no joy in the announcement made this weekend. I sure hope I am wrong and Zachery does justice to one of the most famous roles in Television and Movie history.

Comic-Con Transcript: "It was logical!"

The Search for Spock is over. There, we said it.
On Thursday at Comic-Con International in San Diego, Paramount Pictures held a two-hour presentation before a capacity crowd of 6,500 (with about as many turned away) of several movies the studio is putting out in the next year, including Andy Samberg's "Hot Rod," Robert Zemeckis' "Beowulf," Jon Favreau's "Iron Man" with Robert Downey Jr., and several others. Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford and Shia LaBeouf even taped a special greeting from the set of "Indiana Jones 4." But the most anticipated and cheered-for presentation was saved for last, and that was of course the new "Star Trek" movie produced and directed by J.J. Abrams.

Abrams actually first came out about halfway through the session to talk briefly about his "1-18-08" monster movie code-named "Cloverfield" (we'll report on that more fully later). But then after the "Indy 4" tape, the Alexander Courage music of the Original Series played and the new artwork was displayed on the several huge plasma screens placed around the hall, as the moderator introduced the panelists present to talk about "Star Trek."

Complete transcript is HERE.
