PVC-1 Filmmakers Breaking Ground at the Cannes Film Festival
In the spirit of supporting all that is hidef, I'd like to introduce you to some ground-breaking filmmakers that are screening their film, PVC-1, in high definition at the Directors' Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival. It is the only film not screening on film because of its unusual circumstance - it was shot on miniDV in one, continous, UN-edited take. HD was the festival's answer to keep the integrity of the original material (instead of splitting the material into reels).
Its director, Spiros Stathoulopoulos, is a fan of new digital mediums and wanted to push the limits of filmmaking and technology by accomplishing a feat very few filmmakers have...and even then, he told a compelling storyline with genuine actors within these confines. Like Lucas and Rodriguez before him, Spiros thinks digital is the way of the future for film...not only because of speed but also because it allows the average filmmaker to compete with studio tent pole films. Keep an eye out for reviews and awards during the festival in the coming weeks. Hidef.com believes this filmmaker will make it big. ![]() For more info, check out their website: |:::|PVC-1|::|Life in one shot|:::| CREDITS SPIROS STATHOULOPOULOS: Director, Co-Writer, Producer, Director of Photography JASON HALL: Producer DWIGHT ISTANBULIAN: Co-Writer, Executive Producer VASILIS STATHOULOPOULOS: Executive Producer KICO VELARDE: Co-Producer FRANK RAMIREZ: Co-Producer MARTI ESTEVA: Co-Producer
