iPhone to hurt Sprint, Verizon and others?

iPhone could mean major success for AT&T in terms of new subscribers and could have a negative impact on the other carriers. At 500 bones the iPhone is over-rated and not worth the money. For 500 bones you can get a true PDA Phone or SMART Phone that can match every feature of the iPhone and then some. I currently use a Cingular 8125 with Windows Mobile 5. I use the Sony Ericsson AD2P Wireless Headset to stream music from Windows Media Player on my 8125. Windows Mobile 5 also supports a real web browser, Word, Excel, Outlook (very important for working while mobile) and other cool apps. The iPhone is just a glorified iPod with phone capabilities.

But the nevertheless the iPhone will sell at a massive rate and drive AT&T sales and stock top new levels. Will the others survive?

MSN has the story HERE.

Apple rules!

OK, Microsoft lover. I'll pretend you are not completely biased against Apple. :-)

For all the years MS has had to work with Mobile phones, what have they done to revolutionize the market? Nothing. What have they done to consolidate innovative features? Nothing.

The iPhone may not be as innovative as many would have you believe, but it is the only phone I know of that has pulled together this many innovative features into a single product, AND, come up with a new way to handle mobile web browsing. That feature, in and of itself, is likely to dramatically change the way we view web content, as we will no longer be limited to dumbed down versions of mobile web sites.

But to answer your main question here...I am a Verizon customer, and I plan to switch to AT&T when my contract is up so that I can get an iPhone.

Well, I am huge gadget person and do not believe the iPhone would come close to filling my needs. Bottom line is MS makes a great mobile OS with features the iPhone cannot mtach. Sure it is an iPod but beyond that it lacks the ability to work when away from the office and we will have to see if browser is any good (my biggest issue with most mobile phones). The Blackberry was great for email (when I stopped using pocket windows for a while) but the Browser was horrible (could not pull up 80 percent of sites), could not open word or excel docs and lacked a good media player. I went back to Mobile Windows because it offers the best. I have seen the iPhone spec sheet and yes it is decent but not even worth 500.00 which is what good PDA and Smartphones cost, Windows or Linux based.

You realize you will need a data plan to go along with the iPhone (if you plan to download)? I am a Cingular (AT&T) customer and Data Plan is 39.99. Most not aware that you will need a data plan or you can pay for data as you go but that is very costly.

And yes, I am not an APPLE FAN at all.. The iPod is the biggest overhyped product in the historyt of the entire world. There are better Music Players for the same or less money and when one buys an iPod, you are not buying an iPod, you are buying "marketing".
