iPhone - 600.00 Drawbacks!
![]() OK, everyone is a buzz about the iPhone but mainly for the appearance of the device and not for what it can and cannot do. The web browser, touch interface and integrated iPod are all very nice along with virtual keyboard (even though it will not work for me) but the iPhone has a ton of drawbacks for a 600 dollar device. Here are a few of the biggies: No A2DP support - WTF? A2DP is a wireless blue-tooth stereo profile that allows for stereo listening via blue-tooth. A2DP devices can also allow for hands-free conversations on the phone. A2DP will pause music when the phone rings and resume upon hanging up. I use the Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 A2DP blue-tooth stereo headphones (they are attached to lanyard you wear around neck - they are extremely comfortable) with my 8125 Windows Mobile PDA and I will never go back. I was able to get rid of carrying my Creative MP3 Player by using the A2DP headphones therefore I no longer have to carry an MP3 Player and Phone. The iPhone is cutting edge and does not sport a blue-tooth profile that is necessary for listening to music wirelessly in stereo? The device is called the iPhone right? Your only option is to have a cord wrapped around your body, something I have done away with. I have completely wireless. ![]() Glass Screen (enough said) - How much crack were they smoking when they came up with this one? They create another revenue stream. iPhone repairs will be a profitable business no doubt. Sealed Battery - This is ridiculous! You cannot carry around an extra battery (as I do everyday) for those days you heavily talk on the phone and listen to music? And what happens if a battery develops a dead cell? You either have to claim warranty, use your phone insurance or buy a NEW ONE! No support for Exchange or Blackberry Servers - Us road warriors warriors who depend on using corporate email systems are S.O.L. If POP3 is all you use, you are good, but if you want to use Exchange Services or Push Mail, you are out of luck. No HSDPA support - High Speed Downlink Packet Access is growing in the US and is capable of a max speed of 8 to 10 Megabit per second. With the iPhone only supporting EDGE, some streaming and downloads in the future will feel slow. HSDPA is next Generation and most new cutting edge devices have the support. Why not the iPhone? No Voice Dialing - Very weak! With Cell Phone laws popping up everywhere and the fact that using Voice Dialing is safer, what is Apple thinking? Apparently not about ones safety and convenience..
