Transformers is Fastest selling DVD and HD-DVD this YEAR!
![]() The Transformers phenom continues to roll out of control. When released last week the Transformers sold 4.5 million DVD's on it's first day and 100,000 HD-DVD's as well on day one. The DVD version finished with 8.3 million for the week and HD-DVD at 190,000 for the week. Both the DVD and HD-DVD numbers are impressive. The HD-DVD number is VERY impressive as this means that roughly 40% to 50% of the install base (includes Toshiba Stand-alone players and 360 HD-DVD add-on) purchased the movie. With PiP and all of the extra features that Blu-Ray could not commit to at this time show that Paramounts move to HD-DVD was a solid one (do not forget about the 50GB yields issues for Blu-Ray and the extra 5.00 per disk it costs OVER HD-DVD). Sure, Spiderman III is next week and will probably match the number, but how many PS3's are out there? Like over 4 million.. Which means that only a fraction of the install base will buy the movie. Maybe I am wrong... Stay Tuned......

i know its DEFIANTELY not my equipment...but it seems to me like some parts that should have been much more LFE heavy were not...like the base explosions in the beginning...the first shock wave came through the control tower and i was sitting there bracing myself for something in the 35hz - 15hz range and there was nothing...how anti climactic! then there were other parts that kicked ass such as during the final fight when one of the decepticons was hurtling over a screaming woman in slow motion...now that shook the rafters baby!
i really dont think a true HD track would have done a whole lot to help this one i just cant believe that there wasnt more low, powerful LFE in this movie

TrueHD would have made a HUGE difference as a TrueHD soundtrack is bit for bit identical to the master. We all know in the theater the sound including bass levels were very good (plus Michael Bay is sound freak). The problem here is that they encoded in DD+ which use a variable bitrate. The bitrate is not very good for the movie (I will post average bitrate in my review).
