XBOX LIVE has always been a revolutionary step in online gaming. Microsoft took all of the complaints of PC gaming (plus everything PS2 lacked) and then stepped it up a notch. I was a LIVE beta tester back in September of 2002. When accepted for the BETA program, I was THRILLED. When the BETA KIT arrived, I was stoked even MORE. Then when I actually played MotoGP online, I was blown AWAY. Microsoft had promised the ultimate in online gaming and boy did they deliver. Today XBOX LIVE has grown beyond the ability to simply have a friends list and send invites. You can send voicemail, text messages, conduct video calls, chat, download game demos, buy gamerpics/themes and rent movies on the marketplace. XBL is totally out of control and it has NEVER been better. This week, XBL turns 5 and Microsoft is celebrating with the "LIVE is 5" campaign. To celebrate Microsoft is giving away Carcassonne via LIVE for 48 hours starting tonight (when LIVE's B-day begins) at midnight. For US gamers that have been around since 2002, we will get 500 points.

How cool is that?
