Blade Runner HD-DVD is impossible to FIND - Blu-Ray is available - WB making a MOVE?

THE ONLY VERSION I COULD FIND!!

I spent most of the day attempting to locate the 5 disk edition of Blade Runner HD-DVD. All Bay Area Fry's stores did not receive any. Bay Area BESTBUY and Circuit City stores did not receive any either EXCEPT for the Ultimate Edition at 99.00 (which I purchased after giving up). Borders, Target and Walmart all did not receive any as well. NONE of these STORES know why the movie did not arrive today but the Blu-Ray version was available at Fry's and BESTBUY. This is the first time since Batman Begins in Oct 2006 that WB has failed to get a HD-DVD in the store on time. Is this a sign? Is WB making a move to Blu or am I just TRIPPIN?! Stay Tuned..

In some sense I am a little worried but I really hope it was just holiday shipping issues, but then again this seems like more than a mere coincidence.

There is no reason to worry at this point. This happened back with the Ocean's Giftset as well. I think it is just that they are underestimating the demand in their production, which could be seen as a good thing. If that is the case then we are actually ahead of the game.

I hear ya.. It was just odd not being able to locate anywhere but yet Blu-Ray was available at a few stores.I know I am just talking a little smack but damn, this is the worst time of the year to underestimate anything. Been checking today and NONE so far... I have sent word to WB and have not received any response yet. I am DYING to watch this movie and have not opened the Ultimate edition yet as I really do not want the extra stuff, I only want the 5 disks. But I may break down and consider it 100 bones lost.

That stinks for you, I got two copies of the complete edition. I preorder one from Warner and thought it would never ship it so I ordered a second copy from Amazon. I got my copy from Warner on monday so now I have a second that I didn't want, but it will make a nice gift. Can you not find a copy online?

Not sure if THIS is the sign. But I do believe a decision is coming...and, I'm afraid you aren't going to like it.

In all seriousness, if Warner is going to make a move, is there any way they cannot go Blu at this point? By mid-January, new Blu hardware should be announced or available from most CE manufacturers, effectively negating the "profile version" issue. And, with Blu hardware prices dropping, the HD-DVD price advantage has all but eroded. Couple that with a continued 3 to 1 software sales ratio in favor of Blu, and it would seem silly that Warner would choose to go HD-DVD over Blu. HD-DVD had a window to overtake Blu...everything was working in their favor....but it didn't materialize...they couldn't capitalize on the window, and now its gone.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly. there has been alot written about slowing DVD sales. The studios need the new HD disc formats to take off if they have any hope of recovering from shrinking DVD sales. That is never going to happen if the format war continues. If Warner goes HD-DVD, the format war will be a stalemate for the foreseeable future. If, however, they go Blu, the war is basically over....Blu will have 70% of the studio support....and the remaining holdouts will go Blu when their contracts with Toshiba/MS expire.

This January CES show is going to be VERY interesting.

Yes, CES will tell quite a bit.. I will be there the whole week.. You know, I believe a decision was coming but I now believe they may keep both formats but it is hard to know from their current behavior. Dropping the Combo Disk kind of backs up them keeping both formats. If HD-DVD is going to be dropped, then why not drop the whole format soon instead of just dropping the Combo Disk to save some money. I suppose we really need to wait till next month.

i think ur definately right...and lets all not forget HD DVD had about a 4-6 month head start if i remember correctly...i cant remember exactly how long but i think it was somewhere in that time frame...THEY HAVE COMPLETELY SQUANDERED THAT ADVANTAGE AS WELL AS THE FROM THE GET GO PRICE ADVANTAGE THEYVE ALWAYS HAD...i was all for HD DVD in the beginning and i still like it but just prefer bluray...i really dont know why people are in such a huss fuss about porfile 1.1...who cares! people buy movies for the movie...i have yet to even bother with ANY special features on either bluray or hd dvd discs...i guess there are some people who enjoy that stuff but id be willing to bet the average joe brings the movie home, watches it, and then turns the tv off and heads to bed to go to work the next day...he doesnt sit around looking at an interview with one of the airheaded cast memebers...lol

hd dvd camp might as well face the music at this point...ITS OVER...in fact, they better hope warner DOES go blu ray exclusive so one format can be dominant in the market...i fear that with out one dominant format in the market it will be a stalemate where neither really catches on with the mainstream and were all gonna be stuck with internet downloads...IDK about you guys but that would REALLY SUCK...do you honestly think the quality is going to be even close to what u get on a disk? and if they did include everything that is currently being put on BD or HDDVD in an ternet download it would take god knows how long to download

anyone else ever thought of that? hell with Xbox Live just downloading a Hidef movie from them during peak usage is basically a waste of time...plus u dont get any hidef sound, unless theyve recenetly changed something you still dont anywho.

once again, ITS OVER

PS.......or if you prefer you better hope its over that okay to!
