PIONEER BLU-RAY PLAYER ACCESSING DISH NETWORK VIP SERIES DVR PROGRAM GUIDE
At CES 2008 Dish Network and Pioneer demo'd some cool DLNA stuff. Pioneer showed off an prototype Blu-Ray Player/Set-top box with a DLNA stack that will allow the device to access content stored on Dish VIP Series DVRs and also stream LIVE Content via the Dish Program Guide. This is completely awesome and will finally allow us DVR users to view content stored on the DVR in other rooms of the house. This feature should work not only with the Pioneer Blu-Ray player but also other DLNA Media Players and DLNA Set-top boxes, but this still needs to be confirmed. Cable, Satellite and TV/Movie studios are finally starting to warm up to Digital Content and they realize that NONE of us want to purchase the same content 3 or 4 times therefore DLNA is the answer to sharing "Protected" Content in the home. By next year this will really pick up tons of stream...
With Dish embracing DLNA and now sporting 76 HD channels I switched to Dish Network last Friday.

The sheer number of HD channels was more than enough for me and the upcoming DLNA support is absolutely KICK ASS! I will bring you more on this cool collaboration between Dish (Echostar) and Pioneer very soon.
