Sound and Vision Article downplays the BLU Victory!

For the last few months I have been reiterating that BLU will NEVER reach the acceptance level of DVD because of "PRICE" and the emergence of "Digital Content". Sure BLU or HD-DVD have superior image quality than any of the HD Content currently offered on the market by the 360 Video Marketplace and Apple iTunes (via Apple TV2) but most consumers will SIMPLY not care. Digital Content is about to BOOM next year (believe me, I know this for fact, cannot say more) and soon the reliance on Traditional Optical Media will be a thing of the past. Sony already got the party started when they announced that their entire library of movies will be encoded in DIVX and sold "online" for Download to PC. This move is a testament to the growing power of Digital Content and also Cheap Media (which will be need for Storage). Microsoft avoided including the HD-DVD Drive in the 360 because they really want the Video Marketplace to thrive as it has more HD 720p THAN ANY service on the PLANET. In fact the Marketplace is currently sporting new releases such as the Brave One, 3:10 to Yuma, Pirates: At Worlds End and much more. All of these titles are available in 720p. Digital Content will eventually win the Real War forcing Optical Media into extinction and the History Books. One day we will talk about DVD, HD-DVD and BLU like we do 8 Track Tapes.

David Young, president of The Sound Room, a St. Louis-based custom installation company, sees it this way: "If both camps had waited a little longer, the entire issue would have been insignificant. Because of streaming and downloading, soon both will be obsolete."

here, you want to know something I know as a fact, cannot say more? Hd dvd lost the war, get over it. Digital Downloads suck in every respect. You support losing formats.
There you go!!

You are the biggest BLU fanboy I have ever seen.. Do you work in the industry? I seriously doubt it.. And hey, if you do not like my articles, DO NOT VISIT, VERY SIMPLE.. You are such a clown.. You say nothing worth anything and then criticize others.. If you bothered to pay attention to how TECH INDUSTRIES works, you would see exactly what I am saying, but instead you are a SHEEP that follows for NO good reason and has NO REAL opinions of his OWN.

And case you have a serious comprehension problem, I said ONLY a few care about the high quality. Yes, someone like me will buy the BLU version in most cases but JOE sixpack will opt for a cheaper and more convenient downloadable method. The MASSES will not and this is a fact. They are not picky. In fact, as of early last over 60% of homes with HDTV thought they were watching HD content when they had NO HD Service from Cable or Satellite. You obviously think everyone is LIKE US and wants the best of the best but sorry my friend that is NOT true and NEVER will be. Take a LONG look at DVD's evolution and you will see that DVD did NOT SOAR until prices hit the sub 100 bone mark. That is ALSO another FACT.

And as to my "I know for a fact", yes I know for a fact. The important movie industry groups have joined an important alliance as part of their push for digital content in the home. Whether you want to accept it or not, it is coming, BELIEVE THAT!

i see this one going either way...i KNOW people like having an actual disc to have...if your just buying movies online unless some miracle happens youll only be able to watch it on one device *cough* xbox *cough*.....and what happens if the hard drive your storing these movies on gets corrupted? download them all over again...ya that will only take like 50 years at the current speeds...it takes FOREVER to download a movie, atleast judging by the few ive tried on LIVE...i just see digital downloads stumbling for quite some time to come...it will soemday catch on but till then i think most peepz will opt for an actual disc you can physically touch and own...besides how awesome does a giant rack of movies look? imagine people coming over and not being able to rub it in their face with all those pretty little boxes...haha...kinda sad but true

and besides....LOL...species has said digital downloads will prevail so that pretty much puts the bite of death on that...HAHAHA...sorry i couldnt resist

and one more thing...this is without a doubt one of the most biased and angry bunch of forums ive come across in a while...im including all posters in this by the way not just any one person...LOL...i also put myself in that category as well...helps keep things exciting! every time i come to the site its like reading the days HD news according to species and then entering discussions that feel very similar to a episode of Judge Judy or something...LOL...typically it takes about 4 - 10 posts for any serious sniping to occur but here we all get right to it on the first one...LOL...just thought id let that out!

Your too funny and have some good points.. Storing on Hard Drives is risky to some point but everyone should have backup which is my I push NAS quite a bit. DLC will not rule overnight but will evolve faster than most think unless BLU Players drop in price. The PS3 will never hit the afford player price therefore this is up to Pioneer, Panasonic, Sony and others to make this happen.. But since CES, BLU Player "sales" have been non-existent with prices near MSRP and no titles sales such as the 2 for 1 we saw during the holiday. With the competition gone, BLU has no reason to be kind when it comes to prices...

I will say that I'm Glad that a winner has been picked.. but one thing that chaps my ass is that Walt Disney claims to support Bluray but has yet to release any of its classics on it..
A great example is the release of 101 dalmations is coming out BUT yet NO BLU RAY.... REALLY SUCKS I TELL YOU

Good point.. Disney has a MASSIVE Library and needs to pony up. Their current stuff is ok but man the classics.. I could go for Escape from Witch Mountain..
