Is 360 past its peak?
Next-Gen.biz has a great article on the future of 360 and whether the console has peaked already. I have to agree with many points in the article. The Video Marketplace must expand to "owning movies" and not just renting, and to accommodate this Microsoft needs to come up with a cheap drive replacement and also start shipping the Premium with something more than 20GB. The PS3 on the other hand is open, something I appreciate so much that I am working on enhancing a product my company makes to take advantage of the PS3's ability to write to other devices. The Red Ring of Death of probably the biggest issue of all. Microsoft hoped to have the 360 as the media hub in the home. This has happened on some level but the lack of support for standard UPnP or being DLNA certified as the PS3 poses a huge problem for Microsoft. If you are looking for the ultimate Digital Media Player for the living room that is also a game console, the PS3 is the ONE! Microsoft's lack of a real kids/family games is also a huge issue. The PS2 thrived off of GTA and others but also grew at an unprecedented rate because of Racket and Clank, Crash Bandicoot and other family friendly properties. Microsoft really does need to reach this type of acceptance for 360 to truly be the KING of consoles. The one good aspect for Microsoft is the attach-rate. I talk about this lot and the attach-rate is crazy. Microsoft is making money off games even if the console sales are a little lacking at the moment and appear to be in some decline. The major Bright Spot is XBOX LIVE. XBL is untouchable and so far ahead of it's time that Sony and Nintendo will be along time in catching. Sure, they can build something that "appears" to be equal like the Playstation Store and PSN but they have DAYS to go before catching and by that time Microsoft will have elevated LIVE to a NEW LEVEL. ![]() Quote:

i do hope its becoming clearly evident that the PS3 will come out on top by a long shot over X360...i dont count the Wii in any of this console talk cause at least in my eyes it doesnt exist...to include blu ray in the PS3 was looked at as pure stupidity for the first year but as we all now see it paid off big time...and please no one say Sony force fed people blu ray...if you back something half heartedly like MS did with HDDVD you see where it ends up...in the bargain bin...toshiba obviously is a different story...but anywho, if you feel your being force fed blu ray its very simple, DONY BUY IT...go buy an X360
it was a huge gamble but its going to pay off ten fold for sony in the long run...their set up perfectly for the future with PS3...imagine actually being able to download a movie and having HD space left! or if you run out you can simply go buy another one of your choice...not a sony branded marked up HD with the half the space of a similar priced HD from another manufacturer *is staring at MS during entire last sentence*......that is if they get a movie download service up and running which is yet to be seen if they can pull it off 360 has hit its peak...but dont worry im sure that Bungie is hard at work on Halo 4 for the Xbox 720 which is probly being tested in the arctic tundra just like the X360 was...haha...hope that one doesnt need explaining!
