Rory McGuire the lead developer on the Bourne Conspiracy believes that the lack of a standard Hard Drive for the 360 is FLAWED. I agree and disagree. On the agree side, yes, extra space is nice for streaming in-game and allows for faster level loads and extra in-game content. On the disagree side, devs are really learning to compress and utilize memory which is very good from a performance standpoint as everything is loaded into memory initially so the game does not have to retrieve data from elsewhere.

Speaking to CVG, High Moon Studio’s McGuire said that Microsoft was wrong not to include a hard drive with its lower-end 360 models as it puts limitations on what developers hoping to cater to all 360 owners can do.
"In retrospect I wish Microsoft had made the choice to have [mandatory] hard drives like Sony did with the PS3," he said. "They did it with the original Xbox. I'm not sure why they decided to not require a hard drive on the 360. From what I understand they don't move many [Core/Arcade] units.
