Netflix may hikes prices of Blu, ripping off consumer coming to a mailbox near you!

Netflix is hinting once again that they may hike up prices because BLU content will cost them more. WTF? First BLU forces a victory, then NO BLU price sales since CES and now they want to rape us ALL. Prices should be coming DOWN and not rising. But are we really surprised? NO (at least not me)! Now that the competition is gone, they can stick it to us like we are the MAN and we have no choice but to take IT if you want the best in HD content (compared to Video Marketplace and iTunes). Got to LOVE it..

Quote:
Good news for Blu-ray-adopting Netflix subscribers: the movies-by-mail service is quadrupling its Blu-ray library, increasing the number of titles from 400 to 1,500. Bad news for Netflix subscribers: this'll probably jack up the price.

It's not clear whether or not the price increase would be for everybody or just for people who have selected Blu-ray as their format of choice, but the more-expensive discs are costing Netflix a bundle to acquire, so that cost will be passed right on to the consumer. Not that any price increase has been confirmed, with Netflix CFO Barry McCarthy saying that "It seems apparent that content will cost us more. Whether we raise prices will be entirely a function of churn, subscriber acquisition costs and gross margins."

HI all Usual suspect here. E-ANGER BIG, ME MAD, ME WAVE BIG STICK IN AIR,ME YELL LOUD NOISES.

But seriously I am now thinking of going back to blockbuster because anything i have added to my list on netflix that is Blu or HD-DVD is always Very Long Wait. I have been a member for over 2 months and i have got maybe 2 HD Movies. I was going to send a letter saying they need to purchase more HD content. Sad thing is Local Blockbuster only has one Blu-ray copy of each movie (at least last time i was there) so i dont know that i would get it any quicker with them but at least i have 2 chances Local and Mail.

It kind of proves to me that it's a fledging tech still. Although, the electronics companies would have you believe the world "needs it".

DVD is perfect for 95% of the people of the world, just as regular TV is perfect for the same 95%.

I can say without a doubt everyone I personally know has a HD TV, but few know anything about HD-DVD or Blu-Ray. The only reason they know anything is the recent string of marketing targeting Blu-Ray's win over HD-DVD. So is it a viable tech yet? I'm not so sure.

Again, Sony is great at marketing...
