Hometheatermag.com has an excellent article on why we do not need 1080p!
 Geoffrey Morrison over at hometheatermag.com has an article on why we do not need 1080p (most of us). He explains optimal viewing distance for HDTV material (I sit close to my 52" inch HDTV and 27" HDTV LCD for this reason) and also sheds light on why some people struggle to notice a difference between HD and SD material.
