Nintendo is sued for breaking wrist straps and personal injuries related to the Wii!

It has finally happened (unfortunately - as I love the Wii). Nintendo is being sued on behalf of all Wii owners who had their Wii Remote Straps break causing damage or personal injury. They are also being sued for personal injuries that occur while playing with the console. I can see the oversight on the wrist straps as who knew the world would get so carried away when playing Wii sports or other Wii games. But the personal injuries from using the Wii could be an issue. When using a workout routine (Tape, DVD, etc) you are ALWAYS advised to consult your doctor prior to workout and or any physical activity.

Below is the warning included in the Wii Manual:

Quote:
WARNING - Repetitive Motion Injuries and Eyestrain
Playing video games can make your muscles, joints, skin or eyes hurt. Follow these instructions to avoid problems such as tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, skin irritation or eyestrain:

Avoid excessive play. Parents should monitor their children for appropriate play.

Take a 10 to 15 minute break every hour, even if you don't think you need it.

If your hands, wrists, arms or eyes become tired or sore while playing, or if you feel symptoms such as tingling, numbness, burning or stiffness, stop and rest for several hours before playing again.

If you continue to have any of the above symptoms or other discomfort during or after play, stop playing and see a doctor.
The warning above is good but may not be enough as the use of the Wii Mote is a bit different then using a monitor, mouse and keyboard. It borders on exercise in my opinion, but we will leave that for the court. And for the record, I am not for this lawsuit as Nintendo has produced the best possible product in good faith and should not be penalized for it.

News on the lawsuit can be found here at Wii Have A Problem....

Here is an article about why the Wii is not the issue but the non-gamers are.
