Does HD affect your opinion of a movie?

I saw a documentary recently, Deliver Us From Evil, in hidef and was surprised at how the quality of the image affected my opinion of it. I'm so used to seeing documentaries in their gritty, grainy glory that I was wowed by a good looking non-fiction film. It almost felt like my eyes were grateful for the sharpness and convinced the rest of me that perhaps I SHOULD judge a book by its cover...maybe just this once.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Here's another film that's getting buzz just for being HD. Honestly, it looks pretty kick as*.

Waiting Game: The First True High Definition Big Mountain Ski Movie

Meh, it's silly to let visuals affect your opinion of a movie. Obviously visuals are important, but if you don't like something in standard definition you aren't going to like it in high definition. HD isn't going to make me like the lackluster Matrix sequels.

Somewhat true.. Some movies are a bit better in HD... I suppose the visuals are a distraction which improves your opinion to a degree..

Later..

I think it will make your opinion better but not go from hating the movie to liking it because it was in HD.

Kind of, while some movies will look better in HD I never really notice a huge difference, even shot for shot, yeah the HD looks good but should I really pay more for something that just looks a bit better, I'm only going to watch the movie 1-2 times and then maybe 3 times out of the year. So it doesn't really change how I view the movie, no matter how good it looks the story can still suck

I've watched some silly imax movies on INHD just because they were in HD, stuff like beavers building dams or aerial views of mountains.

Yeah, I am impressed with HD movies. I have seen the same movies in HD and SD, and just the shear amount of extra detail is amazing. HD all the way!

I think in these initial days of HD the quality of the picture will definately affect your opinion of a movie especially if it has a weak plot but amazing visuals, im sure this will die with time as it becomes the norm to have great quality.
