HALO 3 in September?

IGN is reporting that Microsoft and BUNGIE are aiming to release HALO 3 in September instead of the traditional November release of HALO 1 and HALO 2 (Plus XBOX and XBOX 360). November has always been what I consider "Master Chiefs" Birthday. If the story turns out to be true, which I believe it is because Microsoft NEEDS (and WANTS) SERIOUS momentum coming into the holiday to combat Sony HOME and PS3 game release such as GT5. If they release HALO 3 in November, Microsoft has very little time to build the momentum needed to drown out anything SONY DOES in the second half of the year. It also makes sense because BUNGIE is not worried about gamers signing an NDA for the HALO 3 BETA which indicates the game could be near completion when the BETA kicks off in a few months.

Read the story HERE.

In all honesty, Microsoft doesn't NEED to push Halo 3 out the door. I mean, GT5 is 2008 at the earliest and even if it did ship this holiday season, it's rather hard to think Halo 3 is gonna kill a GT fans advancement towards the console. In fact, Sony has NOTHING (unless one of the two new IPs going to be announced at Gamers Day in May) than can directly compare, let alone combat Halo 3.

Killzone is still MIA
Getaway is still MIA
Lair, Heavenly Sword, even Ratchet & Clank don't compare...

If MS pushes H3 out early, we could end up with another Halo 2. Great reviews, until a year later, disappointment across the board, and even magazines and websites admitting they got caught up in the hype. And even if it is ready in September, they should still release in November just to avoid breaking a tradition.

But that's just my opinion.
