Prince of Persia for Wii, finally a decent Wii game!

Nintendo's success with the Wii is somewhat interesting (in a negative aspect). Shortages still exist with Nintendo struggling to supply the demand for their Next Gen offering. Unfortunately most of those that want the console do not realize that they are really scrambling to buy "Wii Sports". Tennis is my fav by far and Wii Sports is a total blast with friends. Wii Sports is the only good thing about the Wii since the launch of the console in Nov of last year. Graphics are so-so, audio is meager, online support is apparently something Nintendo views as "not necessary until the console online market matures" (must be nice to live under a rock) and the games available that utilize the Wiimote (and the Chuk) are practically non-existent. With the launch of "Prince of Persia: Rival Swords" yesterday, the Wii finally has a solid game worth investing your time and "energy" into.

Prince of Persia: Rival Swords is a good game that has a modest learning curve. Once you are past the learning curve the real fun begins. The basic formula of the game is still in place and has not really changed. You still run through obstacle course after obstacle course running on walls, climbing polls and jumping from platform to platform. Navigating is tricky at times as it is easy to fall off platforms because you need to control the camera (something we are not used to) instead of depending on the game to do so for you. You can rotate the camera by swinging the Wiimote to the left or right while tilting the controller left or right. Takes a while to adjust to using the camera, but once you do, you will find it easy to use.. Combat (of course) in the game is the real fun. Executing moves with your blades is NICE. It does require a small bit of timing to execute moves as you tend to get caught up swinging the Wiimote and Chuk everywhere, but once you get comfortable, well timed moves and combos are rewarding (as with past games) and the silent kills from behind are AWESOME. If you were wandering whether you should pickup "Prince of Persia: Rival Swords", the answer is YES... Review should be along shortly..
