    Emery Screens Upstream!



    FLASH SITE

    "Swimming Upstream", one of the first feature films to shoot in the United States on HiDef 24P, made its debut at the DIGIDANCE FILM FESTIVAL in Park City Utah during the Sundance Film Festival. Although not in competion, Writer/Director Robert J. Emery took the opportunity to view the film with an audience for the very first time. The films stars newcomer Matt Czuchry as well as Ben Savage, Michael Moriarty, Kelly Rutherford, Elizabeth Harnois, Ron Dean and Jeffrey DeMunn.

    Next up on the festival circuit for Upstream is the ANGEL CITY FILM FESTIVAL in Los Angeles. "Swimming Upstream" will be shown in the 150 seat Chaplin Theater at Raleigh Studios on the evening February 17th. The film has also been selected for competition in the New York Film & Video Indpendent Film Festival in late March. A special screening will be held on March 3rd at the Cinequest Festival in San Jose, California. After the screening Mr. Emery will participate in a special HiDef panel discussion hosted by Lawrence Thorpe of Sony Corp.

    "Swimming Upstream", was produced by Media Entertainment, (Tampa, Florida) and wrapped its Rhode Island location shoot in September of 2000.

    Based on a novel by Don Robertson, the movie was written and directed by DGA member Robert J. Emery, who produced along with Chicago based DGA Line Producer and UPM Thomas Busch. Cinematographer Steven Douglas Smith was responsible for lensing the picture.

    Digitech (Orlando) performed the sound mix (Dana Meeks/Mixer). American Production Services in LA provided color correction and created the final HiDef master. Fletcher Video (Chicago) provided the HiDef equipment. The project will be transferred to 35MM for theatrical release in 2001
