One of the last great releases on the HD DVD format comes from Germany. Terminator 2: Ultimate Edition.

It will feature the director's cut of the movie in 1080/24p HD glory and English DTS HD 7.1 surround sound.

Lots of extras will be included on the release including picture-in-picture features, new audio commentaries, Quiz Mode (70 questions), Spy Mode (Find flaws in the movie), Personal Bookmarks, Online Features and much more.

No doubt a demo disc of what the HD DVD format is capable of. Or should we write "was capable of"? As you know Toshiba has pulled the plug on HD DVD so this might be one of the last great releases on the format.

It will be released in Germany on March 20th and can currently be pre-ordered on Amazon.de (German version of Amazon.) It is possible to check out a trailer for the release on KinoWelt's German web site. A number of screen shots can also be downloaded (Zip - 4.56MB.)

The release will of course be region free (since HD DVD doesn't have region coding) and will play in US HD DVD players. It is currently unknown if any US retailers will stock the title.
