given the fact that LOTR is directed by Peter Jackson and he has a "love affair" with Microsoft it would make sense that it would be released on HD DVD sometime mid next year im hoping anywayz...and as for Private Ryan i would expect to see that on HD DVD and possibly "blew ray"
around mid year as well since that is when the battle will really be heating up between the two competing formats! |

New Line hasn't made any announcements regarding their plans for HD discs yet (other than that they will support both formats). When the new LOTR DVDs came out, they had a FAQ on their website that said LOTR would not be released in HD until 2008 at the earliest. I feel that this may have just been mentioned to keep people from holding off on buying the DVDs, but we'll see. I wouldn't expect it until at least the fall because of the Christmas shopping season.
As for SPR, I have no idea. Dreamworks hasn't announced anything yet, and I don't know what the deal is with them anyway. Paramount is supposed to be distributing their titles now, but so far they haven't released anything from them other than Over the Hedge on standard DVD. Also, bear in mind that Steven Spielberg held off on allowing his titles to be released on DVD for a while. Since we haven't heard anything about an HD release of any of his titles, I'd say he's holding off again. Who knows when that will change? |
