Viva Pinata (Xbox360)

This is a game that got me excited about it in the early downloadable videos from Xbox Live. Let’s take a look and see if it lives up to the hype.

Graphics 10/10
One of the most solid graphical games I’ve seen on the 360 it looks absolutely beautiful on the High Def screen no jaggy’s I’ve never noticed any real slowdown. You can have so many types of piñata’s running around all rendered in vibrant colors that mix with each other really well. I’ve always said that if you can look at the water and it looks believable then it’s a major plus for the game and even the water in this game is lovingly rendered.

Game play 9/10
This game is defiantly a pick up and play game for all ages there is a little tutorial period when you start the game that gives you the basics, but the game is very simple with its control scheme most every thing is handled either from the menu or the A button so with just a few minutes of orientation you can pick up the entire control scheme. There are many minigames, mostly just a variant on each other that get slightly harder with each level of piñata species. You tend to your garden as you level up more and more things can be done with your garden and in the end its VERY possible to build your dream garden. The way you breed piñatas is fun and you only are forced to sit through the cut scene the 1st time and my experience is most are funny with great background scores you do have the option of seeing them again each time you romance them if you want though.

Sound 9/10
Its really hard to rate this it has a decent background score that never detracted from the game and each piñata makes its own noises. It’s not a real dynamic soundtrack though as different situations don’t really change the background or foreground. Everything you do though has some effect associated with it and nothing becomes unbelievable or bad sounding.

Replay Value 10/10
This game will keep you interested for along time you may put it away for awhile but the game has a way of calling you back even if its just for a little bit because this game is really a pickup and play game with so many piñata variations and little things to do and see that it should keep you interested for awhile.

Overall 9/10
This game to me is the sleeper hit of the year older gamers >and I am one< wont give this game a chance because it seems to kiddy but I can tell you that once you have this game in your 360 you most likely will change your mind. This game is a great break from the grind of an RPG or the white knuckles of a shooter. Its a true relaxing fun game that shouldn’t be overlooked but anyone give it a rental and see for yourself.

BUY IT
