A game that actually lives up to the massive Hype!

Graphics 10/10
Simply put, the best looking game in history, and I am not kidding. The first time I fired up this game my jaw hit the ground. The beauty of the game is not only in the Unreal 3 engine which pumps out amazing visuals but the artistic style that Epic went with for this game. It will draw you into the game from the second you turn it on. This is the game you buy to show off your 360 and to show off to your friends WHY they need HD and a 360.

Gears takes a new twist on shooters by taking the third person view to the next level. Its VERY fast paced and keeps you on your toes. It uses the A button for most of your cover moves but once you get the hang of it you can slip between cover and over cover from one side of the map to the other in a beautiful display of the art of war. Once the controls "CLICK" you will be hooked, they nailed the 30 seconds of FUN that shooters need to become legends. (Halo does this well also)

Sound 10/10
EPIC soundtrack that fits in with the best action drama movies and the gun sounds along with the enemy grunts and noises will have you jumping from your seat the entire ride. Its a fantastic display of your surround sound system, crank this up as its worth showing off. Some of the dialog is on the cheesy side but the overall vibe still works perfectly.

This game again, has that FEEL of a great shooter. It feels natural as you shoot online and in single player. The most amazing feature of Gears in my opinion is that the entire game is playable CO-OP over Xbox LIVE. I was able to play through this game on all 3 diff settings with my brother who lives 900 miles away. This was perhaps the best time I have EVER had gaming. Hooking up with a friend over LIVE and playing through an entire game that was built for co-op is magical. The online VS mode is very addictive and I play often many of my buddies from the online gaming community LoadingReality.com There are a few small issues with the online play as its hard to play ranked matches with friends but there is a work around. Epic has promised to fix this. And if there was any doubt.. Gears of War is the most played game on Xbox Live.. It is the first game since Halo 2 launched in 2004 to take that crown. Its that fun, and you WILL be playing this game for months..

This is my game of the last 3 years, I love it that much. It sets a new standard for how a shooter should feel and play combined with the amazing online co-op mode, Gears is a beast that will be hard for even Halo 3 to take down. If Epic follows through on their promise to fix a couple of the online vs issues Gears will go down in history as one of if not the best all time shooter.

Yes, I totally agree. This game is amazing. My favorite aspect of the game is the great tactics it uses. Could you possibly help me out on insane? I can't get passed the mission with the junker. I always get killed when I play with my friends over live.

Your talking about the one with the Kryle and your in the vehicle right? Ive heard that at times playing Insane by yourself is the best way to go because you are never hurt if DOM gets killed. I sucked at shining the light at the Kryle, luckily my brother is amazing at it.

Reviews like this make me need to play this game. Sounds like a great online game, I need to go to a friends house and play this some day.

The multiplayer co-op on two HDTVs is great and well worth the money but the online mode needs some work.

A bad thing about ranked matches is that nobody really cares about winning most the time, they just want achievements. Like if its down to 1 v 1 and one person wants the chainsaw achievement, no matter what, he tries to get the chainsaw, and most of the time losses and that team losses.

Yep.. its my only gripe... i dont mind the 100 achievements as those come fairly quick, its the fact that they wont allow you to easily have your friends in the game. And after the game they dump you to the menu... from what Epic is saying, they are working on a system that allows you to play with friends. Every night I gather up with 3 of my friends and working as a team we DESTROY the other team... this game is amazing when you have good teammates...

it did look pretty sweet when i saw it at the store, although i have to say all of the newest generation consoles have some nice graphics (however, this is coming from someone whose last console purchase was a PS...not a PS2, an original PS)
